Operation Terra: Solving Overpopulation one shut-in at a timeTerra is an AI (Catgirl) helper who informs others on the environment, sets quests, and gives encoragement!
'Wouldn't it be funny if we made an AI waifu to solve overpopulation? If the people never go outside, then no overpopulation.' - Me, not realising what I was about to start
What it does
Terra is a Catgirl AI who sets quests with the user and informs them about the environment, completing quests improves her mood while failing them makes her sad. Our goal is to spread awareness to individuals not as receptive to traditional advertising or informative methods.
How we built it
We did a React FrontEnd using JavaScript, along with a basic Python backend for the API connections.
Challenges we ran into
Api calls kept failing, along with time constraings as we joined the contest 10 days before the end and one of us got ill for half of that putting serious time constraints on our project.
additionally Messaging loading and also the intergration of the project was challanging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Dynamic data sending across the application to get quests from the AI and then update it visually along with tracking the progress of quests
Terra's visual appearance
Turning Terra into a catgirl (again the chaotic one on the team is proud of that)
messaging to properly show them visually and work with the Markdown styling of the Ai's messages
What we learned
How to use APIs, along with dynamic data sending, dynamic stylng of components, team work and back end connectivity.
What's next for Operation Terra
if we continue devloping then we would improve the edge case handling, and expand out from the core idea foundation, along with improving visuals, layout and making it more accessable.
