Agentic Test Script Generation Platform

Inspiration

Software testing is often one of the most time-consuming phases of the software development lifecycle. QA teams spend significant effort understanding business requirements, creating test scripts, analyzing failures, and documenting defects. We wanted to leverage the UiPath Agentic Automation Platform to eliminate repetitive testing tasks while keeping humans focused on validation and decision-making. Our goal was to build an intelligent testing assistant that transforms business requirements into automation-ready test assets and accelerates issue resolution using AI.

What it does

The Agentic Test Script Generation Platform is an AI-powered Quality Engineering solution built on the UiPath Agentic Automation Platform and orchestrated using UiPath Maestro.

The solution supports two primary use cases:

1. Intelligent Test Script Generation

Accepts Process Definition Documents (PDDs), Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRSs), or User Stories.
AI agents analyze business scenarios, acceptance criteria, business exceptions, system exceptions, and edge cases.
Automatically generate comprehensive UiPath automation test scripts.
Deliver the generated scripts directly to testers via Outlook for execution.

2. AI-Powered Failure Analysis

Monitors failed executions and analyzes execution logs together with the PDD.
Generates a targeted test script for the failed scenario.
Produces an automated Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Creates a Jira parent incident with an RCA subtask while emailing the generated test script to the tester.
Detects duplicate defects to avoid creating redundant Jira tickets.

The result is an intelligent, end-to-end testing workflow that reduces manual effort, improves test coverage, and accelerates software delivery.

How we built it

Our solution is built using the UiPath Agentic Automation Platform.

UiPath Agent Builder powers the AI agents responsible for requirement analysis, test script generation, and failure analysis.
UiPath Maestro orchestrates the complete workflow across all agents and enterprise applications.
UiPath Orchestrator manages execution and automation resources.
Outlook integration automatically delivers generated test scripts to testers.
Jira integration creates incidents and RCA subtasks for failed executions.

Together, these components create an automated and governed Quality Engineering pipeline from requirement analysis to defect management.

Challenges we ran into

Designing prompts that consistently generate accurate and reusable test scripts from diverse business documents.
Handling different document formats and varying levels of requirement detail.
Mapping AI-generated scenarios into enterprise-standard UiPath test automation workflows.
Producing meaningful Root Cause Analysis from execution logs with minimal false positives.
Integrating multiple enterprise systems seamlessly within a single Maestro orchestration.

What we learned

This project demonstrated how Agentic AI can significantly enhance Quality Engineering beyond traditional automation. We gained hands-on experience with UiPath Agent Builder, Maestro orchestration, AI-driven document understanding, workflow automation, and enterprise integrations. We also learned the importance of balancing AI autonomy with reliable enterprise workflows to ensure consistent and trustworthy outcomes.
