Inspiration

Glider Quest was originally created for the last competition. We wanted to make it even better. We were deeply inspired by several standout Horizon Worlds like Jabu Jabu, Merge Kitties, and Fire & Rescue, which demonstrated impressive use of editor features to deliver immersive and interactive user experiences.

How We Built It

The most essential tool in our update was the Worlds Desktop Editor. We experimented with custom Avatar animations, used the Camera API to refine UI presentation, and leveraged World Variables to enhance social systems. AI tools—especially generative AI—also helped us significantly improve our efficiency and asset quality.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was figuring out how to use these new features to design a better gameplay experience. Fortunately, we found inspiration in the brilliant designs of fellow creators, and the new capabilities provided by Meta (like Avatar animation editing and World Variables) enabled us to bring those ideas to life.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Through this process, we gained deeper insight into improving player experience and social interaction on Horizon. We're confident the new version of Glider Quest will resonate with even more players.

What We Learned

This update helped us better understand how to design clear onboarding flows and enhance social motivation for mobile players. We also learned to make more effective use of Horizon’s new tools, such as the Camera API and World Variables, to deliver more immersive and interactive gameplay. Additionally, our team improved in remote collaboration and project management.

What's next for Glider Quest

We’re planning to introduce more tracks and new gliders! Stay tuned for an even more exciting aerial adventure.
