Inspiration
Inspiration comes from difficulty planning schedules and busy advisors.
What it does
It reads your major, what you’ve already taken, and degree requirements, then suggests realistic next-semester courses and builds conflict-free schedules from real section data—respecting your time windows, days you want off, and credit goals. Instead of juggling Testudo tabs and PDF audits, you get one place to plan, generate options, and understand why a schedule fits your degree—so you register faster and with more confidence.
How we built it
We built it using assistance from Claude, Cursor, and Codex.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into website crashing, no .js compatiblity issues, REACT version issues, training the model and token usage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting the AI and the schedule maker was a very difficult and complex algorithm to create.
What we learned
We learned how to work with a team and improve our GITHUB skills. We have a deeper understanding in how to train AI models and also a deeper understanding of REACT and Python, as well as, how to use .json files and API calls to source data.
What's next for TerraPlanAI
We plan to add more features that help the model become more of an all around student aid than just a schedule maker.
