Inspiration

What it does

TerraNova connects real-world recycling and carbon footprint to a post-apocalyptic simulation. Each recycling action generates energy for a cosmic terrarium - the last preserve of mother nature. Users collect and evolve unique Fribbits (spirit frogs) through their environmental efforts. The system features a gacha-style collection mechanic where recycling different materials unlocks various Fribbit types and rarities. Each successful recycling effort contributes to the terrarium's energy, unlocking new story elements and collection opportunities.

How we built it

We used Figma to design, Ibis Paint to draw some Assets, and found many other assets off the web.

Challenges we ran into

It was challenging balancing between game elements and making real-world impact. And we ran into some setbacks deciding between dark or light mode (we eventually went for dark).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are super satisfied with the design and all of us think it is very cute. We are proud of designing an app we'd all give a try and experimenting with new styles.

What we learned

We learned more about using Figma, different design stylesm and working with others to design at the same time.

What's next for Terranova

Terranova would add more community elements, featuring more news content about recycling and the environment. We want to add more story elements to explain the lore behind the different characters and more collectible opportunities as well.
