Inspiration

With so many different websites and apps, it can be hard to find where information is located, it can also be frustrating to have to sort through all this information

We wanted a way for students to be able to easily access all relevant information in one place without having to worry about sorting through irrelevant information

What it does

Our agent is engineered and equipped to provide Terps with the latest updates regarding incidents on & near campus, weather conditions, and events fellow Terps can attend.

It uses various UMD knowledge sources to provide the most accurate and informed answers for questions.

How we built it

We built it using TerpAI by giving it access to different sites such that would provide it with realtime data, such as umd.edu, dbknews.com, reddit, and more.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with the AI calculating the distance between two points, however we were able to fix this issue by giving it a json file containing all the coordinates of major buildings in college park. Then the AI was able to calculate the distance by using the coordinates given to it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how we were able to allow TerpNewsAI to access real time information across multiple different websites.

What we learned

We learned that information is everywhere, and it can be hard to find specific information.

What's next for TerpNewsAI

To add more websites and apps that TerpNewsAI can use to help the user.
