Inspiration
We were inspired by already existing Excel-style websites that store some sort of information, such as GitHub, with their many repos of internships/jobs. However, these sites show many internships/jobs, and one can forget when applying the deadlines, essays, and qualifications. Our aim was to have a platform to track your internship applications to be more organized.
What it does
Our app tracks internship applications and keeps you organized. In simple words, it holds whatever job listing you put in and gives you the status of whether you applied or not. Additionally, we integrated a resume grading AI feature that allows users to have their resume graded based on a specific job listing.
How we built it
Backend: Python Frontend: Next.js Database: Postgres, SQLAlchemy AI: OpenAI, BS4
Challenges we ran into
We were flowing really well until it came to the integration of the frontend and backend, we could not finish because of this, and could not figure out how.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we have built a functional backend, features that work, and a frontend that looks pleasing.
What we learned
We learned a lot, whether it was the AI usage or testing the backend. Even though we did not end up finishing, we got to realize that in hackathons, we cannot go overboard with features and should stick to the fundamentals.
What's next for TernTrack
We plan to continue this app, hopefully, and connect the front and backend.
