Inspiration

Indonesia has a diverse culture when it comes to food. There are 5300 authentic Indonesian foods recorded. Unfortunately, until now there are still few foods from Indonesia that are widely known in the world. If Indonesian food culture can be promoted well, then it can be an opportunity for Indonesia so that Indonesian culture can be known internationally and bring more benefits for Indonesia to benefit. Here we create an application called TemuRasa. You can find food from various regions in Indonesia. With TemuRasa, we can promote Indonesian food culture. Can bring many opportunities to regions in Indonesia, rural areas can also promote their food culture through TemuRasa and can advance their opportunities to be widely known in Indonesia or around the world.

What it does

Our website helps promote Indonesian food culture, provides many opportunities for regions in Indonesia especially rural areas to promote their food culture and promote their opportunities to be widely known in Indonesia and around the world.

How we built it

At the beginning we brainstormed to decide what project we should work on. After we decided to create TemuRasa, we started working on every part: frontend, backend, and do follow up every 3 hours, sometimes we also have online discussion if needed. On our website, we design interfaces for users to interact with on the front-end. And lastly, backend, we create database and API for our website, also collect and research data to display on front end.

Challenges we ran into

The challenge we face is the pace of the competition itself. For the frontend, we have to make a website that is responsive and attractive to users, because we hope that this website can be used by many people. So we have to make it comfortable and pleasant for the users. From backend we found CORS in API, so we have to handle CORS and we have to sync database used in this website. For some of us it's a first time using intense query of MongoDB / NoSQL DB. But eventually we managed to make an API which can search, filter, read, create, delete, and edit query.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create a fully functional website in such a short time and we could solve all of the challenges that we were facing.

What we learned

From this project, we learned a lot about time management, teamwork, and how to work under pressure.

What's next for TemuRasa

For the next step, we will focus on our website to be used in a bigger community and we also planned to collect as many databases as possible related to typical foods throughout Indonesia.
