Inspiration
Playing music is supposed to be fun--let's keep it that way!
What it does
TempoTrainer is a platform for practicing music, refining skills, and learning about your habits. It provides an interface with intuitive feedback on your beat matching, then gives you a companion to complete your learning experience.
How we built it
The platform is a series of connected apps running on the Pebble smartwatch, a Node backend, and a socket-powered client.
Challenges I ran into
Throughout the hackathon we ran into problems with WebAudio API, accelerometer data transmission, latency concerns and more. This was very much a learning experience for the whole of our team.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Tempo recognition and the playalong feature were quite ambitious, but made it into the final product!
What's next for TempoTrainer
We want to make the whole platform smarter: TempoTrainer will be able to detect tempo in real time, play along to a variety of instruments, and provide better feedback.
