As a new transfer I found navigating Temple’s Campus unnecessarily confusing and time wasting, and that many of my peers shared in that same tedium. Although a small factor in the choice of university, the ease of navigation serves as a factor nonetheless. I'd like to try and make a prototype of the visual guide for Temple’s campus that I would have wanted when I first arrived here, though the time constraint of the hackathon nips any actual usability from the program. If there were any more time, the program would use 3d models of Temple’s buildings and mappings of their rooms and draw a camera through them to visually guide the user across campus. The user inserts their location or selects it from a 3D render of campus, and their destination, then is shown a 3D visual beginning at their location that slowly follows an optimal route to their destination. The 3D model of the campus would also allow for a rotatable and zoom-able macro view to further conceptualize the route, with the most optimal path drawn over the campus model.
