Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from finding the best bathroom on Temple University's campus to use since we like to talk amongst ourselves about the best bathrooms on campus.

What it does

Many features:

  • users can create reviews for bathrooms
  • view those reviews LIVE
  • review the statistics for each of those buildings
  • (feature 1) Find the nearest bathroom to your location
  • (feature 2) Find the best bathroom at the moment via the use of ml that is trained on users' reviews!

How we built it

Next.js - A React framework for building server-rendered and statically generated web applications.

Firebase - A comprehensive platform provided by Google for building web and mobile applications, including real-time databases and authentication services.

A machine learning model - Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) trained to predict the best bathrooms based on user ratings and other factors.

Python Server - A backend server (Flask) implemented in Python to handle machine learning predictions. Hosted on Azure.

Challenges we ran into

We had some problems working with some components like our custom bar graph to display our activity chart and trying to set it up individually for floors of a building and problems with connecting our model to be able to interact with our front end or our Firebase data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

we had fun building this app got the ml part working!

What we learned

we upped our skills in front + backend dev!

What's next for Temple Bathroom 2 Go - TB2G

  • create reviews for bathrooms for more buildings and by each bathroom and not floor
  • fix graph to show activity by floor
  • add sorting to see best reviews
  • make mobile app + get acquired by temple uni.
