INSPIRATION During my high school years, I found it hard to focus on my reading assignments. The heavy textbooks made it tough to keep up with my progress. I felt sure that a better method existed to make studying more interactive and effective. I wanted to improve my own learning so I thought up an app that would mix digital reading with quizzes and track how well I was doing. I aimed to build a tool that would make studying more fun and easy letting students read, test what they know, and see their progress all in one spot. This idea pushed me to create the ebook app, which I hoped would make studying simpler and more fun and useful.
HOW THE APP IS USEFUL The ebook app offers a comprehensive reading and learning experience for students. It features a digital library where students can access a wide range of ebooks. After reading a book , they can take interactive quizzes to test their understanding and receive immediate feedback. The app tracks reading progress, awards achievements, and allows for offline access to books, making it easy to study anytime, anywhere. Additionally, it provides customizable reading options like adjustable fonts and night mode to enhance the reading experience.
HOW WE BUILT THE APP We created the ebook app with Glide, a platform that helps people build apps without much coding know-how. Glide's easy-to-use drag-and-drop system let me design the app's look and functions . We used Glide's tools to manage data and set up a digital library giving students a way to find and read ebooks. To make interactive quizzes, we used Glide's built-in forms and logic to set up questions and keep track of answers. We added progress tracking and rewards for achievements using Glide's features to collect and show data. The app also works offline thanks to Glide's ability to sync data. In the end, Glide helped us make a working easy-to-use ebook app that gives users a smooth learning experience.
CHALLENGES Building the ebook app using Glide was a challenging yet rewarding experience, especially since it was our team’s first hackathon and none of us had prior experience with hackathons. We were all new to the process, and figuring out how to use Glide effectively was daunting. We faced challenges in designing and implementing features like interactive quizzes and progress tracking, and managing offline access was tricky. Learning to navigate these hurdles with no previous hackathon experience was tough, but Glide’s intuitive platform and supportive community helped us overcome these obstacles. Despite our inexperience, we managed to create a functional and engaging app, turning our initial uncertainty into a valuable learning experience.
FUTURE The future of the ebook app could be bright with several potential enhancements and expansions: 1]Expanded Content Library Future: Adding more ebooks across various subjects and grade levels, including textbooks, novels, and reference materials. Impact: Broadens the app’s appeal and utility for a wider range of students and educational needs. 2]AI and Personalization Future: Incorporating AI to offer personalized book recommendations, adaptive quizzes, and tailored learning paths based on individual performance and interests. Impact: Enhances the learning experience by making it more relevant and engaging for each student. 3]Integration with Educational Tools Future: Enhancing integration with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other educational platforms. Impact: Streamlines the workflow for educators and students by connecting the app with existing educational tools and resources.
