Inspiration

America has a childhood obesity problem. We're here to encourage healthy eating among kids.

What it does

HealthyPets allows you to upload an image of your food and it provides a nutritional summary. When you eat something, your virtual pet Fluffy eats it too. So, if you eat healthy, Fluffy is happy and you get an additional pet. When you eat unhealthy, Fluffy is sad and one of your pets gets taken away.

How we built it

React, tensorflow/keras, javascript, express, node

Challenges we ran into

The machine learning part took a lot longer than expected because the code for training, saving/loading, and evaluating the model was not generating the correct results. The model was performing very badly at first until further trial and error happened.
