Inspiration

I built Voptera because reading a script while looking natural on camera is harder than it sounds. Traditional teleprompters can keep scrolling when you pause or speak at a different pace. I wanted a recording tool that would follow the speaker instead.

What it does

Voptera is a voice-powered teleprompter for iPhone. You can write a script or import one from a PDF, choose your recording settings, and start speaking. The script follows your voice, pauses when you pause, and continues when you resume.

You can record with the front or rear camera, make reaction videos over an image or video, capture both cameras at once, and add automatic subtitles. Scripts and recordings are available from one workspace, with options to save and share finished videos.

How we built it

I built Voptera as a native iOS app. The workflow brings together script editing, voice recognition, teleprompter controls, camera recording, and video export. Projects are stored on the device so users can manage their content locally.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was making voice-following scrolling feel natural. A speaker may pause, change speed, or go slightly off script, so the teleprompter needs to help them keep their place without demanding their attention. Bringing the recording options into a simple, usable flow was another important part of the work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that Voptera goes beyond displaying scrolling text. It lets someone move from an idea to a script, record with the setup they need, and share a finished video in one app. Voice-following scrolling is at the center of that experience.

What we learned

I learned how much small details matter when someone is recording themselves. Reading comfort, timing, camera controls, and a clear interface all affect whether they can focus on what they want to say.

What's next for Voptera: Voice Teleprompter

I plan to keep improving the voice-following experience and refine the recording workflow based on how creators use Voptera. My goal is to make it easier to prepare, record, and share a confident take.
