Inspiration
As university students who use Telegram and the various bots and channels available in our daily life to explore promotions and opportunities, we wanted to explore the feasibility of a go-to Telegram bot to consolidate mental health resources. This is especially in consideration of how there is a multitude of mental health services available catering to various psychological and mental health needs, but some may not be as well-known as others.
What it does
This bot has 4 main sub-commands to access various resources available; live chats, meditation and stress relief, hotlines, and counselling services.
How we built it
We used repl.it to code in Python, whilst testing its functionalities via Telegram.
Challenges we ran into
Searching for a hosting method or service, and learning how to use it to ensure the code runs even whilst we are away from our computers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to make a bot on Telegram with the use of rudimentary Python code.
What we learned
Software hosting and development is not easy.
What's next for TeleMeEverything
We are a group of Psychology students with little to no background in coding, on top of that this is our first hackathon. Should we be given the chance, knowledge and time, we would like to see how we can further develop this bot and make it a more holistic and integrative service for the public.
