Inspiration
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, non-urgent healthcare services had reduced drastically and there is an increasing demand for remote outpatient solutions.
Medical assistance is very essential for any person. Getting quick support in any emergency can save lives. When patients are unable to reach the doctor or hospital and therefore, it becomes very difficult to provide the treatment. Through telemedicine, patients can interact with doctors, who can guide them about the treatment.
What it does
Patients can enter their queries on the platform and receive solutions from the doctors through the platform.
The chatbot can be used for quickly booking new appointments, modifying previous appointments, or cancel the appointments.
How we built it
We built the website using HTML and CSS. The bot is built using Twilio.
Challenges we ran into
We need to connect and verify the doctors. For the verification, we plan to ask for valid documents and authenticate the access. We then decided to keep it as a stretch goal due to time constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The platform can help patients in emergencies and it is something that is required in today's world. During the pandemic, many patients were unable to go to hospitals, and therefore, this platform can help bridge the gap.
What we learned
We learned a lot about using Twilio for SMS and voice chatbot, designing the website UI, and then building it with HTML and CSS.
What's next for TeleMedicine
- Verifying doctors
- Integrating an AI Chatbot to answer basic queries
- Adding an option to call the hospital in an emergency
