Telemachus

Inspiration

We wanted to create a site that facilitated connections between mentors and mentees. We've experienced difficulties in the past with finding mentors, maintaining a relationship, and truly connecting. Sometimes, the mentor doesn't always have time to spend, or doesn't have a good way to communicate, or more importantly, sometimes, the mentor just isn't the right fit.

What it does

Mentors and mentees have to swipe right on each other to match. Like Bumble, the mentor must reach out first! Prompts for more casual discussion are provided as icebreakers to avoid the pressure of having to be very formal. This will allow for unhindered connecting on maybe more personal topics of conversation. There is an option to unmatch at any time.

How we built it

We used Glitch to build a prototype website in HTML and CSS from scratch.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues trying to monetize this idea. Ultimately, we decided on selling the data back to recruiting companies on which parties matched with each other and what companies and job roles were the most swiped right on by certain types of students.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed an idea for a product and put together a website in less than 24 hours!

What we learned

We learned that collaboration can create a variety of ideas to work with. We found that having multiple people approach the prompt in different ways pushed progress forward.
