Inspiration
The inspiration behind TeleHealth stemmed from a recognition of the inefficiencies in traditional emergency healthcare communication. The critical need for real-time coordination between hospitals and ambulances sparked our team's commitment to developing a solution that could streamline and improve patient care in emergency situations.
What it does
TeleHealth is a comprehensive platform designed to enhance communication and collaboration between hospitals and ambulances. It allows hospitals to view and accept registered cases in real-time, while ambulances can efficiently register new cases with patient details. The application integrates OpenAI's technology for a medicine assistance chatbot and live transcription, with plans for a video call feature(yet to implement). Authentication using JWT tokens ensures secure user interactions
How we built it
Built on the Next.js framework, TeleHealth leverages React for the frontend, Node.js, and Express.js for the backend, and MongoDB as the database. Real-time communication is facilitated through Socket.io. The secure deployment of both the client server and chatbot on Render underscores our commitment to data security and efficiency.
Challenges we ran into
The development process presented several challenges, including coordinating real-time communication, integrating OpenAI technologies, and ensuring data security through JWT token authentication. Debugging and optimizing performance were ongoing hurdles that required meticulous planning and collaborative problem-solving.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a robust and innovative solution to address the challenges in emergency healthcare communication. The successful integration of real-time features, OpenAI technologies, and the implementation of secure authentication reflects our team's dedication and technical prowess.
What we learned
The TeleHealth project provided a profound learning experience, from mastering the intricacies of the Next.js framework to integrating artificial intelligence with OpenAI. The challenges encountered during development enhanced our problem-solving skills and deepened our understanding of real-time communication and data security
What's next for TeleHealth
Looking ahead, TeleHealth aims to implement a video call feature for remote consultations within the Next.js framework. The upcoming dashboard, featuring visualizations of open, closed, and assisted cases, will provide hospitals with comprehensive insights. We are committed to continuous improvement, with a focus on refining existing features and exploring new avenues to further enhance emergency healthcare coordination.
