We see a clear shift: travellers are moving away from mass tourism and toward trips that feel authentic, immersive and off the beaten path. Brazil is still largely under-visited compared to its potential, especially when it comes to its hidden nature and culture spots. We were inspired by the idea of connecting this growing global demand for slow, meaningful travel with Brazil’s unique capacity for transformative experiences.
Tekoá is a slow-travel startup for the curious few. We want to design differentiated, off-the-beaten-path journeys across Brazil, connecting travellers with trusted local partners, nature led experiences and culturally rich encounters. Our goal is to make it simple and safe for conscious travellers to access real, immersive trips that feel both refined and genuinely Brazilian.
We started by speaking directly with potential travellers, local partners and sector experts to validate the demand for authentic, slow travel experiences in Brazil. From these insights, we defined our ideal traveller, our value proposition and now we are building the first version of our product: a minimalist website that presents our concept, our traveller profile and Brazil’s “hidden gems”. During the hackathon, we want to focus on turning this into a tangible product using modern web tools and AI to speed up content, design and structure.
Next, we’ll continue refining our website, build out our first bookable journeys in a few key “hidden gem” regions of Brazil, and deepen relationships with local partners. We plan to develop a simple tech layer to match traveller profiles with curated experiences and to track impact more transparently. Our focus is to evolve from a validated idea into a functioning slow-travel studio that can scale carefully while staying true to authenticity and conscious travel.
