Inspiration I wanted to make it easier for people interested in technology to find one another, learn together, and turn ideas into projects. General social platforms aren’t designed around those needs, so I imagined a space where beginners and experienced tech enthusiasts can share what they’re learning, meet collaborators, and discover opportunities. What it does TekKonnect is a social and collaboration platform for the tech community. Members can create profiles to showcase their skills and projects, share updates and questions in a technology-focused feed, join communities around shared interests, and connect with people to build projects together. TekKonnect also features Tuyi, an AI assistant designed to help users explore coding questions and generate code examples. How I built it For the MVP, I focused on the core experience: user accounts, tech profiles, a feed, communities, and project collaboration. I built the web app with a Node.js and Express backend, and added persistent data storage. I also worked on connecting Tuyi to Gemini so it can answer coding questions and generate code examples. Challenges I ran into TekKonnect has a broad vision, so one challenge was choosing which features to include in a first version I could demonstrate. I also had to bring accounts, profiles, community activity, project collaboration, and the AI assistant together into one experience while keeping the app manageable to build and demo. Accomplishments I'm proud of I’m proud to turn the TekKonnect idea into an MVP that demonstrates how a tech-focused community could work. It brings profiles, a feed, communities, collaboration, and an AI assistant together, giving people a place to connect, learn, and start building. What I learned I learned how to narrow a broad product idea into a clear first version. I also learned how web app components—including a backend, user accounts, stored data, and an AI integration—can work together to support a community. What's next for TekKonnect Next, I want to improve the collaboration tools, make it easier to find teammates and opportunities, and expand the learning features. I also plan to refine Tuyi’s coding guidance and improve the platform based on feedback from its users.
