Inspiration

As freshman we are always looking for opportunities to collaborate with our peers and get involved in research, but there is hardly any way of getting to know about them. We decided to create an app to remedy this

What it does

It supposed to be similar to a social media app where users can create a profile and post about the project they are currently working on or want to work on after finding a team. Interested students can get in in contact and team up with them! In addition to that, professors can post about their research and students can apply to assist them if they meet the prerequisites.

How we built it

We built it using React Native. We were planning to use Express and MongoDB for the back end. However, due to lack of sufficient time, and enough members, we could only partially complete the frontend

Challenges we ran into

Learning React Native in 2 days was the biggest challenge that we ran into. Nah, scratch that....setting up expo definitely beat that.

We're proud of having learnt a completely new technology from scratch and coming so far with it

What's next for Tekbook

We plan to give it a better UI and more functionalities along with a backend. We also hope to include a feature that we couldn't work on this time, which is having a discussion forum of sorts where students can pitch in ideas based on the problems they face in their daily lives and their possible solutions
