Inspiration
what do you name someone who fights , struggles and toils tirelessly in this world for his family ? It took me 19 years to exactly figure out and experience the answer to this question. We are one of the neighbourhood youngsters from the Indian subcontinent with great goals and lofty hopes. we have always been interested in cricket just like every other kid. we witnessed the 1996 world cup where a team booed and broken, a country bombed and boycotted and a cricket board near the verge of bankruptcy had lifted the world cup. that moment had deep impressions on every one of us. growing us as a kid we desperately wanted to have a photograph of that iconic incident, to relive that moment, to capture that moment as a memory As time flies we grew up to be teenagers who loves travelling and exploring new places and new cultures. Everything seemed to be on track with studies and our traveller going hand in hand until COVID pandemic strikes most of our neighborhood slowly slipped into the claws of poverty. it is at that moment we realised how quickly things can go out of hand . Everyone one of my family strived hard to make our ends meet. My brother told me " Either we heal now as a team or we will die as an individual." this is when I found out the answer to my question . I'm not sure if he will be hailed as a hero or a victor, but I am certain that he is not a loser. we decided to represent the story of those persons that silently seemed to be dissolved in the stream of time and to raise voice to those unheard voices.
What it does
With this filter, you may change the video's background. It enables you to present from your living room while being able to travel anywhere in the globe. permits post-production picture and video makers to completely alter the background. The aim is to provide the most natural and smooth transition from the shooting area to the edited backdrop. Additionally, it adds the hashtag "#NOTaLOSER" and ember effects to your films along with a passing line of a VHS effect to add a bit of nostalgia to the filter.
How we built it
We built the lens completely using lens studio, using assets from the lens library and arranging a green screen to let user select his own background for versatility than having a single background, we thought of using adobe photoshop but when you got a powerful creator like lens studio, why go out eh???
Challenges we ran into
TECHNICAL CHALLENGES As we are familiar with snapchat for posting new snaps but when it comes to create a new filter/lens we are fairly beginners. This is an ambitious project to execute in a handful of days considering we knew nothing about creating snap lens 30 hours ago and it was tricky to add a background greenscreen and also adding amber effect to rectify screen presence to make the screen more lively. WORK FLOW CHALLENGES We just used the lens studio to create this lens from the groundup and having that in mind ,we decided to divide work as miniature tasks between us and one our member arranged and integrated all aspects as smooth as possible when someone completed their workload,we merged all the effects and prefabs as soon as possible to keep everyone updated whilst avoiding any form of miscommunication.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
If you asked a person who’s a pro in lens studio or someone from a CS background about the thing that we did here, they’d probably say that this is a newbie job, but the Chemical Engineering background for me strengthened my skills on core knowledge but not on the skills about designing or using the tech very efficiently, so many people mocked me and my team members when they heard we were competing in a technical competition saying what would they “LOSERS” do,so we wanted to say our story in this filter and even though we were not fully satisfied with what was the outcome compared to our technical thinking but we are quite proud to say we did this in less than 48 hours as we were sending snaps from a year or two but the creation is the thing we learned about 30 hours ago.
What we learned
We discovered that there is no assurance that only major events always provide valuable lessons. Sometimes the most important lessons are learned from the smallest moments of happiness, joy, willpower, and enthusiasm. sometimes we were exhausted but we're able to dig deep inside us to find the energy to serve the people and to finish the project. we cultivated willingness to be there for each other. we understood that leadership is not about being in-charge, leadership is about taking care of those in your charge. thank you team snapchat for these valuable lessons.
What's next for Tejojala Prakhayanam - perception preceeds reality
Future plans include for the addition of a feature dubbed "New Dimension" that gives viewers a "out of this world experience." This filter lets users add any sort of 3D item to films, therefore we want to incorporate augmented reality into it. Additionally, we want to improve the fire and clean appearance of the ember effect along with adding various effects like snow, leaves, rain and sakura to signify the various seasons and aspects of nature. We also want to include the stories of as many people in the snap lens by adding more hashtags which the user can change with a tap of the screen and also include a feature which allows the users to add their own hashtags to tell their own stories.
