The idea for Tejas AI came from observing how talented candidates often get rejected before reaching human recruiters. Modern hiring heavily relies on Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), which filter resumes using keyword and relevance matching.

Many students and professionals don’t understand how these systems work. As a result, even qualified candidates are filtered out due to missing keywords or improper formatting.

I wanted to build a tool that makes resume optimization data-driven, transparent, and intelligent. Thousands of resumes are screened automatically using algorithmic scoring systems.

Unlike basic keyword tools, Tejas AI uses semantic understanding to compare context, not just words. Tejas AI was built using:

Lovable for frontend development and app structure AI-powered NLP processing for resume-job comparison Semantic similarity analysis for contextual alignment Weighted scoring logic to generate a match percentage Prompt-based LLM suggestions for resume improvement

System Flow: User Input → Text Extraction → NLP Analysis → Scoring Engine → AI Suggestion Generator → Results Dashboard

The scoring system combines keyword overlap and semantic similarity to produce a meaningful compatibility score.

Building this project helped me understand:

How ATS systems filter resumes How semantic similarity differs from basic keyword matching How weighted scoring systems impact outcomes How to design AI tools that solve real-world problems How to translate technical AI logic into a usable product I also learned the importance of UX clarity — AI is only powerful if users understand the output.

Challenges Faced 1️⃣ Designing a Fair Scoring System Balancing keyword matching with contextual similarity required careful weighting.

2️⃣ Avoiding Generic AI Output Ensuring suggestions were actionable instead of vague required structured prompting.

3️⃣ Simplifying Complex AI Logic I needed to present advanced NLP processes in a simple, intuitive dashboard.

Tejas AI can evolve into: A full resume rewrite engine Industry-specific scoring models Recruiter-side candidate ranking tools Career analytics dashboard LinkedIn integration

Tejas AI represents more than a resume tool — it’s a step toward democratizing access to intelligent career optimization. By combining AI, semantic analysis, and practical usability, the goal is to help candidates compete fairly in an automated hiring world.
