Inspiration
If you’ve ever tried to find a seat at Maxwell or Lau Pa Sat during the CBD lunch rush, you know it is a warzone. You are holding a tray of burning hot Laksa, scanning the horizon for an empty table, only to be defeated by a single packet of tissue paper.
The "Chope" culture is efficient, but it's manual. We wanted to disrupt the hawker center ecosystem by automating the dominance. We asked: What if a robot could secure your seat for you? And more importantly, what if it could exact revenge on those who hog tables? (Yes kinda hypocritical but aren't we all)
What it does
Teh C Kosong Peng is an autonomous "Chope-ing" rover. It patrols table rows using a side-mounted camera system. The Patrol: It navigates down the aisle using a timed dead-reckoning system. The Vision: It stops at each table and uses Computer Vision to analyze the surface. The Judgment: If the table is empty: It deploys a packet of tissue to officially "Chope" the seat. If the table is occupied (People, Bags, or Rival Tissues): It activates a high-pressure pump to "spill" Teh C (water) onto the floor of the table.
