A tech jobs platform just for high school students

Inspiration

We got this idea from one of our teammates who has strong technical skills but was struggling to find a Technical job when he was a high school student as there was no platform specifically for high school juniors and seniors; almost all the jobs are for undergraduates and above. In addition, a lot of students prefer to work in a field that is related to their interests (in this case is technology, computer sciences) rather than working at a fast-food restaurant as it will provide them more valuable skills for their future. It is also a good way for high school students to earn good amount of money before going into university as finance will not be an issue for them when choosing schools.

What it does

It is a technical jobs platform that targeted high school students who have strong skills in tech. In this, it will ask the user to create an account/log in before seeing the job postings. It will also let user to fill in an application either to apply for a position, or simply just want to keep the user updated about postings and send user's application to the recruiters.

How we built it

We used HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Flutter and Firebase to build this project.

Challenges we ran into

Due to limited timing, we are unable to finish the part with "About Us", "Events" and "Contact Us," therefore it will be "under construction" if you click on it. Another issue we ran into was APIs, it is impossible to find Tech jobs APIs to implemented into our project, therefore we mocked up the data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Having a very pretty landing page for our website as well as being able to create both mobile app version and website application.

What we learned

We got to learn how to FireBase works and how to host a website on FireBase

What's next for Teen Space

After the event, we will also try to make this as our side project, therefore, we will take more time to find APIs for our Tech jobs data, and also add information for "About Us", "Events" and "Contact Us" part to give the website a complete look.

We believe that if this project is fully completed and get released, it will help a lot of high school students when it comes to finding technical jobs.
