As students, especially in tech, we want to do more than just attend classes. We also want to gain experience, build our skills, attend events, find internships, and eventually get jobs.

The problem is that balancing all of this with our studies can be difficult. We don’t always have enough time to search through different websites, social media pages, WhatsApp groups, and other platforms looking for opportunities.

That is where the idea for Jobify came from.

Jobify is designed to make finding opportunities easier and less time-consuming for students. Instead of spending hours searching across different platforms, students can use one place to discover relevant jobs, internships, events, and other opportunities.

This doesn’t guarantee students a job or assume that opportunities should simply be handed to us. It simply makes the search and discovery process easier, so students can spend more time focusing on their studies while still being able to explore opportunities for the future.

Our Accomplishments

We turned Jobify from an idea into a working prototype. Our team divided responsibilities across the development process, including planning, analysis, design, development, documentation, deployment, and maintenance. A team manager helped coordinate our progress.

We:

  • Identified a challenge students face when finding opportunities.
  • Designed and developed a working prototype.
  • Documented and deployed the project.
  • Worked collaboratively with assigned responsibilities.

How We Built It

We identified the difficulty students face when balancing school and finding opportunities. We then planned, analysed, designed, and developed Jobify as a team, with members focusing on different responsibilities while working toward the same goal.

What We Learned

We learned that successful development requires more than coding. Teamwork, communication, planning, time management, problem-solving, and documentation were all essential.

We also learned how to break an idea into tasks, assign responsibilities, research solutions, and improve through experimentation.

What’s Next for Our Team

We plan to improve Jobify using feedback from students and potential users. Future goals include making the platform more personalised and exploring partnerships with organisations, companies, universities, and event organisers.

We also hope to continue building projects and improving our technical skills. Jobify is just the beginning.
