Inspiration
The inspiration for this project struck me during a conversation with my grandparents, who shared their challenges in accessing household help efficiently. Motivated by the desire to empower seniors and simplify their daily lives, I embarked on a coding project aimed at creating a user-friendly website and app tailored to the unique needs of senior citizens.
What it does
The website is designed to address the specific needs of senior citizens by providing a platform to access household help services easily. They can access any services provided by people who volunteer to help.
How we built it
I started by conducting interviews and surveys with seniors to gather insights into their specific challenges. Armed with this valuable feedback, I designed a simple yet robust platform that connects seniors with household help services seamlessly. The interface incorporated features such as voice commands, easy-to-read fonts, and step-by-step guides to enhance user experience. The backend was built with a secure database to store user information and preferences. The project also integrated a notification system to keep seniors informed about service updates and appointments. Collaborating with professionals in elder care helped refine the project, ensuring it met not only technical standards but also the practical needs of its users.
Challenges we ran into
One of the primary challenges was addressing the wide range of technological proficiency among seniors. Striking a balance between a user-friendly design and comprehensive functionality required thoughtful iteration. Regular usability testing with older individuals helped identify pain points and areas for improvement. Security and privacy concerns were paramount. Building a robust authentication system and implementing encryption measures were vital to ensure the safety of user data. Balancing these security measures with a seamless user experience presented an ongoing challenge. Sustainability and scalability were also considerations. I had to design the project to accommodate future updates and expansions, anticipating the growing needs of the senior community.
What we learned

Looking ahead, I plan to collaborate with local senior centers and organizations to enhance the project further. I aim to incorporate machine learning to personalize user experiences based on individual preferences, making the platform even more intuitive and user-centric.
