Inspiration:Financial Literacy is so important in today's world and schools don't often stress this topic enough hence we wanted to create fun, interactive way for kids to learn about finances. We were inspired by other interactive educational applications such as Duolingo and Khan Academy.
What it does:It compromises of 6 lessons each which have interactive learning component with and assessment at the end. It also has a separate progress bar that shows the progress throughout the lesson and assessment.
How we built it: We first made a prototype of the web application using Figma . Then we build it mainly using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Java Script. All of us had very little to no experience in UI/Ux design or programming and we learnt as we progressed.
Challenges we ran into: We had few challenges with using Java Script in assessment and progress bar. We also have few issues merging the progress bar into our program
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We wanted our website to foremost be easy and fun to use hence we sticked with simple and elegant design. We also wanted our web application to be interactive hence we effectively added "Check Your Understandings" in the middle of of our lesson.
What we learned: We came into this hackathon with barely any web programming experience but by the end we are very comfortable using HTML and CSS to create multiple page web applications. We also learned about what is appealing in a design sense when we were paying around with the Figma.
What's next for TechNova - Finance For Youth: In the future we can add more content on the application. We can also make a register/login page and save the users progress.
