Technica Tunes JukeBox

Transport yourself back to the 50's using this JukeBox and relax to some songs of your choice. This downloadable JukeBox was created using the team’s previous knowledge of Java, specifically using JavaFX to implement the GUI. Additionally, they integrated skills in HTML, css, and JavaScript that they learned through the Technica Workshops to create a demo website containing a downloadable version of the JukeBox.

This Jukebox was created by Sahana Raju, Selena Alvarado, Lauren Kosub, Kaitlin Leung, and Rachel Walter. All five students are freshmen at the University of Maryland and are enrolled in the Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students Honors College Program. Technica is their first hackathon, and they look forward to more projects in the future!

Primarily, I worked on the construction of the website using Sublime Text 3. I learned and implemented HTML and css to make the website, and added a downloadable jar file so that users could access the JukeBox java application.

Lauren Kosub
I worked primarily on creating the GUI with JavaFX and designing an interactive display for the JukeBox that was user friendly and Technica-themed.

Kaitlin Leung
For this project I worked on the website itself and its design. I was most proud of going from never having creating a website to becoming comfortable with HTML and web design. I'm also incredibly proud of our team for working together to form a product by integrating distinct skills and learning a lot on the way.

Sahana Raju
I worked on the design of the JukeBox using Javafx to create a GUI with interactive buttons. I mainly worked on the style end to create a user friendly JukeBox using the Technica color scheme.

Selena Alvarado
I introduced teammates to JavaFX programming. I helped implement JavaFX to set up the menu system of the GUI and figured out how to use media resources. I used Java IO to be able to read/write song list files so JukeBoxes have re-usability.
