Inspiration

We own a small software development company and have under our control lot of websites that we developed for our clients. Over time, reviewing the performance and health of the site has become a real problem for us, because of this, we developed a Dashboard that connect to New Relic to grab our sites information and provide a real time overview of all the sites in the same screen.

We plan to use this tool in our company in a big screen so developers can know at a glance how our sites are performing and what's the current health.

We also plan adding google analytics metrics, auto scaling with heroku depending on the load of the server, and lot of alerts based on Watson sentiment analysis for website comments, social network comments, etc.

Our final goal would be to have automated decisions made using Watson AI in order to route the different alerts to the proper person to take care automatically and drastically reduce our time spent in checking all this.

How I built it

We build this application using Ruby on Rails, connecting to New Relic API to grab our applications, we then process the information, and make several decisions to determine the health of the system.

Challenges I ran into

We initially integrated this with Google Analytics but we had problems using the Real Time API to grab de information from multiple sites, for this reason we removed Google Analytics for this hackathon.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We believe this tool will be really helpful for our company, and once we're able to add the other features we want it could be of great help for lot of other companies that faces the same challenges we face.

What I learned

Integrations with New Relic, Google Analytics, how we think we determine the health of the site, plus lot of ideas for the future.

What's next for Multisite Monitor

Our final goal would be to have automated decisions made using Watson AI in order to route the different alerts to the proper person to take care automatically and drastically reduce our time spent in checking all this.
