I was inspired to build this project because people who love books often struggle to exchange them easily and safely, even when many good books are just sitting unused on shelves. Seeing how much value is locked in these books, and how a simple digital platform could connect readers, reduce waste, and build a local reading community, motivated me to turn this idea into a practical app using a no-code tool like Base44.
Challenges faced:- Learning curve: Understanding how Base44 handles databases, relationships (users ↔ books ↔ swaps), and workflows took some time, especially when designing the swap request and confirmation logic.
Limiting features to fit no‑code: Translating every idea into something doable with drag‑and‑drop and built‑in components meant simplifying some features (like advanced recommendation algorithms or very custom UI).
Integration and testing: Configuring actions like notifications, chat, and status updates to work correctly together required multiple iterations and testing different flows.
Performance and structure: Designing clean data structures (for users, books, and swaps) so the app stayed fast and easy to maintain was a bit challenging at first.
