Inspiration
We all have something gathering dust — a blood pressure cuff, an old phone, a tablet that still works. Meanwhile, someone nearby can’t check their vitals, finish homework, or apply for a job — not because they’re “needy,” but because they’re one tool short.
You don’t need to be rich to help. You just need to pass it on.
TechBridge was born in 48 hours to prove: *quiet acts scale.
What It Does
TechBridge is a silent bridge between surplus and need.
List any device in under 30 seconds — laptops, phones, BP monitors, webcams, anything that still works. We pick up, sanitize, and deliver — 100% anonymous. No awkward meetups. No social media posts. No judgment. Recipients browse real, local listings and request with one sentence.
Humanity, upgraded — no performance required.
How We Built It
Stack: Next.js 14 (App Router) Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui Supabase (Auth, DB, Edge Functions) Framer Motion + react-parallax Cloudinary (secure image uploads) Vercel (instant deploy)
MVP built in 48 hours:
Device listing with image upload Anonymous request flow Location-based filtering (mock geohash) Parallax landing with real device PNGs Fully responsive and accessible
Challenges We Ran Into
Anonymity vs. Trust: solved with mock secure drop-off locker API. Image Bloat: compressed all PNGs under 100KB via Cloudinary. Realtime Matching: built using Supabase Realtime + Edge Functions. Sleep: nonexistent.
Accomplishments We’re Proud Of
5,234 mock devices seeded — demo feels alive. 100% anonymous flow — no names, no photos, no shame. Parallax storytelling that made a judge say: “I have a tablet at home…” Fully functional MVP deployed on Vercel in under 48 hours. Inclusive design — health and accessibility devices supported from day one.
What We Learned
People don’t want to be heroes online — they just want to help quietly. One honest sentence is enough: *“I need a laptop to code at night.” Surplus is universal — everyone has something to give. Speed > perfection — ship truth, polish later.
What’s Next for TechBridge Locker network integration (Amazon Lockers, local partners) AI wear-level matcher (e.g., 80% battery → student use) Non-profit dashboard for bulk routing Health device certification flow Expansion to 10 pilot cities by 2026
