Inspiration
Video games like Detroit: Become Human were a huge inspiration for this game. Additionally, I read an article on how our future is likely to be fully or mostly automated, and that got me thinking about how digital disinformation would play into this future.
What it does
This is a video game of a story where the player can decide whether or not to spread digital disinformation, and then depending on what they decide to do, they will arrive at different endings, some good, some bad.
How I built it
I built this through the tech proposal PowerPoint slide template given to participants. I also used Mockflow to create a screen mock-up of a rough idea of what I would like the game to look like.
Challenges I ran into
A big challenge that I ran into was my lack of experience in creating video games. I have no prior experience, so I did not know how to create a mock-up, but I was able to learn how to through the internet.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am very proud of my overall idea. I think that it could have a profound impact on players, and I believe that a game like Digital Deception would open players' minds to seeing where digital disinformation is leading us.
What I learned
I have learned a lot about hackathons, how to create a mock-up, and even how to give an elevator pitch!
What's next for Tech Proposal - Digital Deception
For the future of Digital Deception, I hope to learn more about how to actually create it into a functioning game. I would also like to create the story for the game having different endings such as civil wars created over political digital disinformation.
