Inspiration

The inspiration for this project stemmed from the challenges farmers face in accessing fair markets and receiving equitable prices for their produce. Many farmers struggle due to the involvement of middlemen and lack of direct communication with buyers. We aimed to bridge this gap using technology, empowering farmers by connecting them directly to consumers and wholesalers.

What it does

The platform provides a seamless online marketplace for farmers and buyers. Farmers can:

List their produce with details like quantity, price, and availability.

Communicate directly with buyers via an integrated chat system.

Access real-time price trends and demand forecasts.

Buyers, including wholesalers and consumers, can:

Browse available produce based on location and type.

Place orders directly with farmers.

Track delivery or pickup schedules.

Additionally, the platform includes a payment gateway for secure transactions and a feature to connect with logistics providers for transportation.

How we built it

Frontend: Built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with React for dynamic and responsive design.

Backend: Node.js with Express.js to handle server-side logic and API integration.

Database: MongoDB for managing user data, product listings, and transaction history.

APIs: Integrated Google Maps API for location-based search and logistics tracking.

Deployment: Hosted on AWS for scalability and reliability.

Challenges we ran into

Data Validation: Ensuring accurate and consistent input from farmers with minimal digital literacy.

Scalability: Managing high traffic during peak seasons and ensuring smooth performance.

Logistics Integration: Coordinating with third-party logistics providers and syncing their data with the platform.

Trust Building: Creating a sense of trust between buyers and sellers on the platform.
