Inspiration
Entering college as a freshman, navigating endless tech jargon and buzzwords can feel completely overwhelming. Freshmen often struggle to understand what specialized tech roles exist—like Frontend, DevOps, AI, or Embedded Systems—and what exact step-by-step tools they need to learn to get started.
What it does
Tech Career Navigator is an interactive, terminal-based application built in C that categorizes 14 major tech roles into clean domains. It breaks down each role into structured, beginner-friendly phases complete with clear explanations, specific tools, estimated timelines, and automatically exports a customized My_Tech_Roadmap.txt summary file directly to the user's computer.
How we built it
Built in standard C programming language using nested control structures, modular function calls, clean text layout design, and file I/O operations (fopen and fprintf) for local file exporting.
What's next for Tech Career Navigator
We plan to add more specialized domains, integrate interactive quiz features to help students discover roles based on their interests, and create a cross-platform visual GUI version!
