Inspiration
We work with a lot of customers and their data. The idea was to have an easy solution for creating meaningful summary of data sets and time logs. Team leads constantly were moving through time log reports and planned data to check the status of tasks, so we realized that there is a scope of improvement in this aspect. We wanted to make a one stop comprehensive reporting solution, based specifically on Jira data so that anyone can understand the progress of the project.
What it does
TeamLog Digest removes the hassle of sifting through extensive time logs. Our app simplifies the process by automatically summarizing team's time logs into clear, insights. You can tailor fit your summaries to fit your specific needs and preferences, making it a perfect fit for your team. It has two avenues, one for project leads and one at SysAdmin level. The project UI lets you select team members and date ranges to pass timelog entries + work description via a AI engine, which returns meaningful summary. The sysadmin UI lets you add in another filter for projects too, that way you can get multiple project data as well.
How we built it
We used Forge to write the code and used free version of OpenAI for the coding. We upgraded to plus as we realized the potential in the later days.
Challenges we ran into
AI is a new venture for us but its one we've been trying to get into from a while. We studied blogs, watched videos and went through suggestions on the internet and from the developer community to build the base of the app. It took some time so we had to define which feature can we take to the DevPost hackathon from the long list of items we planned for originally.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a quick UI and creating the logic to pass the relevant information
What we learned
AI is powerful. We will spend more time to understand what it can do and are now planning to integrate aspects of it in our current Apps as well.
What's next for TeamLog Digest
Building the UI more flexible and building an app which can produce one click project reports from the data in comments and timelogged entries. This will provide the motivation to teams to write the stories in detail and provide accurate timelog descriptions as it will reduce manual effort of creating status reports.
