Inspiration
We had been discussing different cooperative platforms and our experience in freelance work, so we wanted to create something to streamline the process of team creation.
What it does
Given a database of people tagged with skills and a project with expertise requirements and a deadline, it finds the possible teams and organizes them based on qualities like experience, extra skills, and pay rate.
How we built it
We used Django to manage the database holding the 'Candidates' and 'Projects'. We used python scripting to generate 'Team's. The Django views we create are then displayed using Tailwind and Tailwind-UI.
Challenges we ran into
We had to change the data schema to accommodate the needed functions. We found that version control with the SQLite files can be a nuisance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some of us were not acquainted with Django, and we learned more along the way. Using Tailwind led to a look that we were happy with.
What we learned
We learned a lot about relational data schemas in Django and we found a way to collaborate with each other well remotely.
What's next for TeamBuilder
The current team search is not meant for large amounts of data that an enterprise program would handle. We had to leave out features such as using NLP to predict skills needed for a project, timeline predictions, and candidate skill recognition. If we were to make this into a full application, we would need to make performance improvements and consider making this into a format that could integrate better into other collaborative programs.
