Many visually impaired persons feel the need to live confidently and independently, this project helps them achieve a sense of independence.

These smart glasses have an ultrasonic sensor attached to them which will give a buzzer sound if the person is close to an obstacle, and an rgb sensor is also attached which will tell the person which currency note is currently being used.

How we built it

We have used the following hardware components:

ARDUINO UNO Ultrasonic Sensor - HC-SR04 (Generic)
Buzzer
Jumper wires (generic) Sunglasses SPEAKER MP3 MODULE(DF MINI PLAYER) RECHARGEABLE BATTERY CONNECTING WIRES BATTERY CONNECTOR PUSH BUTTON

The ultrasonic sensor gets the distance info and sends it to the Arduino which depending o the closeness value will give a beep. the sensor captures the image of the note and depending of the RGB value range will announce which note it is via the speaker

Challenges we ran into

To get accurate results for the currency notes we had to refer many sources regarding the RGB values

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to successfully build the object detection glasses.

What we learned

We were able to empathize with the visually impaired understand their needs and concerns and bring about this project

What's next for Team97_Smart Glasses for the Blind

To implement the note detector to a highly accurate level so that there is no mistake.
