Inspiration

Education in Africa is fragile. Conflict, displacement, and crumbling infrastructure push millions of students out of classrooms every year — yet the will to learn never disappears. Walking through Nairobi, we noticed international and displaced students struggling not just with access to learning materials, but with the language barrier that makes even available resources feel foreign. We asked ourselves: what if an AI could teach you Chemistry, explain a matatu route, or walk you through KCSE exam prep — in your mother tongue, by voice, right on your phone? That question became Team Sonic.
