Inspiration
Starting to invest can quickly feel overwhelming with all of the complex terminology and a lack of accessible resources. We wanted to make a website that adapts to each user’s own level of financial literacy, making banking and investing more approachable, personalized, and easy to understand. Our goal is to empower users to build confidence in managing their own finances, regardless of their starting point.
What it does
Bankr is a website that adapts based on a user’s financial literacy, allowing for a lower barrier to access to banking and investing overall. Users first fill out a series of questions to determine their current understanding of many financial terms. The AI then displays common financial terms and descriptions according to the user’s level of financial literacy.
How we built it
We implemented Pinata, Python, Typescript, Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Our frontend was developed using React. After creating the frontend, we implemented GPT and Pinata databases to store and process the user’s information, allowing us to provide customized financial advising.
Challenges we ran into
- API call limits causing issues when developing
- React vs typescript for the frontend
- Knowing our limits and adapting our plan more frequently
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Having a presentable webpage
- Exploring how to use Pinata, and various APIs
- Persevering through challenges
What we learned
- To start with a simpler plan and continue to add on overtime
- Research implementations of AI beforehand
- Discuss expertise in detail before dividing tasks
What's next for Bankr
- Integrating AI to customize each user’s experience
- Incorporating more options for investing
- Expanding features to include a chatbot that provides step by step financial planning instructions
