Our Story & Motivation for Participating in the FNB Bank of the Future Hackathon
As a group of passionate Computer Science and Computing with Finance students from the University of Botswana, we are driven by a shared vision: to use technology to solve real-world financial challenges and drive innovation in Africa’s banking sector.
Our academic journey has not only equipped us with strong technical skills from software development to data analysis but also given us a deep understanding of how financial systems work. We've seen how traditional banking often falls short in meeting the needs of underbanked communities, small businesses, and digitally-savvy youth. This is where we believe the future lies: building smarter, more inclusive, and tech-forward financial solutions.
The FNB Bank of the Future Hackathon is the perfect platform for us to collaborate, innovate, and contribute ideas that could shape the next generation of banking. It offers us a chance to apply what we've learned in a high-impact environment, work with industry leaders, and grow both personally and professionally. Most importantly, we want to be part of a movement that redefines finance in Botswana and beyond powered by youth, technology, and purpose.
Together, we aim to innovate with purpose because the future of banking is not just digital, it’s also human-centered.
