Inspiration
I was inspired by the recent significant increase in "swatting" crimes, or prank calling the police to bring a large number of officers, or a "SWAT" team, to a streamer's house while they are on live. There is a noticeable gap in this area between the crimes being committed and solutions/prevention methods, and the Team Liquid Anti Swatter is intended to help bridge that gap.
What it does
On the community side, Anti Swatter allows community members to report potential swatting crimes that they may have heard about from people "bragging" about it online, or in chat rooms of some kind, like Discord or Instagram, and rewards fans who help prevent swatting by providing them with Liquid+ points. On the organization's side, Anti Swatter can track reports for every single player/streamer that is currently signed to Team Liquid, and provides that information, along with the name and non-emergency phone number of the closest police department to their home, in a clean and easy to use interface.
How we built it
Anti swatter was built with the MERN stack (MongoDB, express, node.js, and react), Google Cloud/Google Maps API, Vercel, JavaScript, and HTML and CSS
What we learned
I learned much more about MongoDB, and used Vercel and the Google Maps API for the first time. These resources were invaluable in creating Anti Swatter in the limited time available for Liquid Hacks.
What's next for Team Liquid Anti Swatter
Contacting Team Liquid when a streamer's reports have passed a certain threshold, like 10 or 15 reports, to ensure that streamers are protected as possible.
