Inspiration
Our inspiration stems from an 11-year-old Canadian student, who wanted to know if it was possible to heat food without a microwave. From this, we developed an experiment where students build an apparatus that uses the heat of the sun to heat food.
What it does
The lining and insulation of the box harnesses and traps heat within the box, which heats up the food inside.
How we built it
The inexpensive and easy-to-source materials made this project an easy one to build. The box is lined with materials that absorb the heat of the sun, so that it may be re-emitted onto the food.

What's next for Team HSW
We hope that our experiment can demonstrate in real time the harnessing and usage of thermal energy, as well as get students excited about science and energy!
