Inspiration
Inspiration was taken from Google fight a website based on entering 2 separate search criteria and which ever one had the most searches won. We were then able to use this idea for social good to compare businesses for their ESG ratings to allow users to be more aware of the organizations around them in a user friendly way.
What it does
The project allows a user to compare to organizations against ESG categories the company which has the least marks against them out of the categories wins.
How we built it
We built this project using a series of web languages (HTML,CSS, JavaScript). An API is used from Yahoo finance to access both their organization names as well as their ESG information.
Challenges we ran into
We faced multiple challenges throughout:
- Finding a suitable API without a paywall attached
- Using the API to autocomplete the search fields
- Responsiveness of the CSS
- Sleep depravation -First Hackathon for the team.
