Inspiration
Love of Washington ecosystems and passion for educating others on how they can meaningfully contribute to conservation efforts, preserving this natural beauty for generations to come.
What it does
An interactive web app that walks users through various shoreline erosion scenarios and potential eco-friendly solutions.
How we built it
We used Lovable to design the app layout. We then used Cursor to iterate on our ideas, and then published with Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife cannot provide end users with site-specific guidance so as not to incur liabilities regarding homeowner expectations for project costs and outcomes. Another challenge was figuring out how to present this information in a manner that inspires hope in the user, rather than creating fear for the future ecology.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our teamwork and the creative process of developing this educational tool, all while having fun and contributing to something important.
What we learned
We learned about critical erosion threats to the Puget Sound coastline and the pros and cons of various prevention methods. We also learned how to vibe code a web app.
What's next for Team Coastline
Enjoying Washington's beautiful shorelines and sharing our new eco-friendly knowledge with others.
