Inspiration
Feeling stuck in a never ending cycle of having too much to do is very damaging to mental health. Our team noticed that stress is a problem faced by almost everybody, especially high school students. In response to this, we created "Tranquility".
What it does
Tranquility helps put your goals into perspective by seeing how realistic they are. Enter in the tasks you want to do for the day, estimate how long they will take you, and rank them from easy to hard. If all of your tasks add up to more than 10 hours, or if you pass the limit of how many easy, hard, and medium tasks are manageable, you will get a message notifying you. After entering in your tasks, you can check out some videos to see tips and techniques to help you accomplish your goal.
How we built it
We used replit as well withs help from w3schools to help with some of our coding. Primarily used HTML (website structure), CSS (stylize it), and Javascript (to make the list functionable).
Challenges we ran into
When we were coding the layout of the website, we found it very difficult to properly align all the elements of the website to our liking. Part of this was because many of us were not familiar with the language, so we were learning as we went. We had different operating systems and some of the fonts were not showing properly, so we stuck to a font that was compatible with all devices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a unique idea, touching up our HTML, CSS, and Javascript in just a day, and we’re also proud of the submit & clear functions for the tasks.
What we learned
This project allowed us to learn a lot more about Javascript, HTML, and CSS and how to build a website. We learned to communicate with each other to make sure that our code wouldn’t clash with each other.
What's next for Team 9 - Tranquility
We hope in the future to have pop up messages that have daily reminders: drink water, do certain homework, deadlines that are due in the near future. Instead of the timer videos set in our timer section, we would love to incorporate our own timer system which the user can set themselves. Lastly, we would code a more advanced UI system that’s user friendly and convenient to use.
