Introduction

CareerAtlas is a platform designed to help fresh graduates transform and map out their future with clarity and confidence. By centralizing important information, including job listings, skill requirements, and learning resources from multiple sources, CareerAtlas allows graduating students to clearly understand their suitability for roles, identify skill gaps, and take concrete steps to improve their employability. CareerAtlas is a one-stop portal for everything related to jobs, containing a calendar to view deadlines, interview dates, and track application submissions, simplifying the job-finding process for fresh graduates.

Data

The platform uses the “MyCareersFuture” dataset containing information regarding vacancies, including salaries, job types, and locations, and enables the user to filter by various options as required. It was chosen as it provides the most comprehensive set of attributes to work with.

Bonus Feature: Resume-Job Analysis

Additionally, there are skill-matching features making use of machine learning. The flow is: 1) user signs up on the platform, 2) user uploads a resume, 3) user heads to the job page. By performing keyword matching with the resume uploaded, including synonyms, we are able to determine if a user meets a “requirement” point in the job description, which is refined from the original, long raw description by an LLM.

Bonus Feature: Personalization

To support decision-making, the platform caters to the individualized needs of each applicant by focusing on hire percentage (skills the student has versus skills the job needs), interest percentage (alignment with the user’s preferred industries and final-year project), and match percentage, which combines both factors. In addition, the platform shows clear job requirements and whether the user meets those requirements.

Bonus Feature: Roadmap

The platform also includes an analysis page for a career roadmap to achieve the user’s desired end goal. It starts with beginner skills and slowly progresses to harder skills, connecting study resources for those skills. As the user checks off the skills they have mastered, their profile strength increases.

Personal profile

The profile tab contains relevant details for the student when looking for a job, including their skill set, past experiences, and additional information that they can use to describe areas of interest. The student also has the option to submit their final year project, allowing them to showcase their technical skills and find opportunities with similar projects.
