Team 72_OneTech

Being students ourselves, we have struggled in finding the right career path for our future. Without the optimal resources, it can be hard to determine the type of career that suits our personality and interests, and more so how we can prepare ourselves for our future career. Hence, the third problem statement on CSIT resonated the most with us and it inspired us to create a one-stop portal that provides resources for techies to explore, find and prepare themselves for the career path that they aspire to have in the tech industry.

To develop our application, we made use of the PyGui framework which is a simple API to help us create a sophisticated and practical user interface that users can easily navigate. We then used basic Python elements to code the functions and other operations within the application.

As we were using the framework for the first time, we found it challenging to code certain parts of the menu for the users. For example, allowing users to go back and forth between sub menus in the portal or creating multiple choices for users to select. Regardless, we were able to incorporate the framework successfully and it was an accomplishment that we were proud of.

Through this project, we have learnt the importance of collaboration. Given that the time was short and there were many parts of the application that needed to be developed, it was a struggle to stay focused and not get frustrated at our lack of progress at certain points. However, we encouraged and supported one another, which helped us to keep our calm and finish developing our application successfully.

We hope to improve our user interface in the future by including options to help us get more information on users such as their details and their purpose for accessing the portal. This will help us to understand and curate customised resources for different types of users and their interests. For now, we hope that our one-stop portal will help techies explore and find their desired career paths, and prepare themselves sufficiently so that they can clinch the jobs that they aspire to have.
