Problem Statement: Be it parties, restaurants or any social event, at the end of each event there is food left in a bulk. People involved in these events are often willing to donate the food. However, due to lack of information about the donating NGOs, they end up throwing the food.

Proposed Solution: Our app aims to bridge the gap between surplus food from restaurants, parties or any events and the less fortunate in society. It connects food donors with nearby NGOs and volunteers to ensure that excess food reaches those in need. The app allows food donors to provide information about the quantity and shelf life of the food, and NGOs located nearby can then collect and deliver the food to the intended recipients.

Technological Stack:

  1. Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  2. Backend: NodeJS

  3. Database: MySQL

Challenges Faced:

  1. Differences in opinions of team members.
  2. Time of availability of team members.

Accomplishments:

  1. Project Completion on Time.
  2. We could build what we imagined.
  3. By filling the gap between Donors and NGOs, we could bridge the gap between hunger and people.

Learnings:

  1. We all Collaborated as a team with everyone having different skill sets and with lots of new amazing ideas.
  2. We got to talk to the mentor and their valuable guidance is what that motivated us to keep going.
  3. Since Hackathons are all about solving problems in a limited timeframe. We learned to solve problems without panic.
  4. We cannot all be equipped with all the skills, so bringing skills from each individual together is the skill of the group leader.

Future Scope of Our Project:

  1. Enhanced features and functions: As the app improves, new features and functionalities based on user feedback and emerging technologies may be introduced. For example, including food tracking technologies to track donated food's path, creating real-time notifications for NGOs.

  2. Integration with delivery services: The app may instigate integrations with meal delivery services in the future. This allows for the effective and timely collection and transportation of excess food.

  3. Collaboration with government: As the app demonstrates its success in decreasing food waste, there is a chance to work with government agencies and policymakers.
