Inspiration

Our inspiration for this app was Duolingo. We utilized the foundation of what Duolingo was and utilized it into different areas of learning. We know that Duolingo is an app specialized for adaptive based learning using AI and different algorithms, so we used the same inspiration that Duolingo used for our app.

What it does

Essentially what our app does is that it will assess students based off current standing and using a curriculum that BuffaloPrep would be teaching, we can utilize this curriculum to assist students with mastering a topic. The AI of our app will understand where students are commonly making mistakes and essentially help out students that are in need of that assistance for understanding how to fix their mistakes.

How we built it

We built this app using Figma and designed the database system in Draw.io

Challenges we ran into

This app runs into challenges such as limited potential of rewards from the rewards based system and the app being too similar to how Duolingo performs. The rewards based system however, has potential to be flexible from the teacher's end, by rewarding their kids in different ways such as candy, a homework pass, or even being able to sleep for 5 minutes in class. The rewards based system is meant to be open ended and will give teachers different options on their end to reward their students with something. In terms of how Duolingo performs, our app will also be used to adapt to the learning style of which learning style the student responds better to. If the student would respond better to more hands on approaches or even just videos, then the app will end up giving more questions in that format. This data will also be sent to teachers so that they will be able to adapt to the student's learning styles in their classrooms. We are also a team that has very limited time and minimal coding experience, and we ended up working more into a framework to develop a visual idea of how our app will perform.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how much of a prototype we were able to develop within less than 48 hours, and be able to have a solid branding for our app. We are also proud of how much we have progressed in this limited time and how much thought we have put into this app, from the intricate systems, and how the AI will perform when this app does go into development.

What we learned

We learned how to use our skills to collaborate and build ideas off each other. We were also able to build our idea visually despite our limited coding knowledge, and give a structurally sound idea of an app that is able to deploy into a real world setting.

What's next for Team 6 - Inspire Beyond

There is so much that we can do for this app, such as doing different pre-assessments, different questions depending on the different subjects that will be tested. In addition to this, we also need to implement the college interests algorithm into our framework, such that the academic standing of the student will be used to give recommendations to different colleges that the student might be interested in when they come to that point in time.
